About General Election

General election means an election usually held at regular intervals in which candidates are elected in all or most constituencies of a nation or state concern. India is a constitutional democracy with a parliamentary system of government, and at the heart of the system is a commitment to hold regular, free and fair elections. In India, The Election Commission of India, which has an autonomous constitutional authority, is responsible for administering Union and State election processes in India. The body administers elections to the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies in India, and the offices of the President and Vice President in the country.
