Pastoral Care

We are delighted you are considering our Sixth Form.

Providing good quality pastoral care is at the heart of our work.  We are committed to equality of opportunity and work tirelessly to ensure that all students are supported to achieve their potential and enjoy the challenges and opportunities that Sixth Form life brings.

The leap to the Sixth Form is not always an easy one and, whilst we will be encouraging independence and personal responsibility from our Sixth Formers, we will also be providing the support to ensure that the transition is gradual and effective and that we prepare you for the world beyond the Sixth Form.

Students will have the opportunity to attend a residential at the beginning of the term to support their transition to Sixth Form study. This positive and collaborative start to the year will establish their learning journey and ensure that strong relationships between staff and peers are formed.

A dedicated network of staff supports students within school to help them achieve their full potential and to nurture their well-being. Sprowston puts our young adults first ensuring a holistic Sixth Form experience.

Each Sixth Form student has a Personal Tutor who supports group and individual academic mentoring and is also available to discuss any pastoral issues that may arise.  The relationship with Personal Tutors is key and builds over your time in Sixth Form.  The tutor also collates references and guides students through university and other applications.  We have an extremely experienced team of Sixth Form Tutors who provide students with personalised guidance and support.

We understand that student life can sometimes be a challenge so we offer tailored support via Social, Emotional and Mental Health workers to support overcoming any potential barriers to their learning as well as a dedicated pastoral lead to signpost to the multiple services on offer.

There is also a real opportunity for our Sixth Formers to lead the school in active student involvement and student leadership via our enrichment programme.
