March 16th, 1911: Who was Josef Mengele?
Josef Mengele was born March 16th, 1911. Yet he got his notoriety as an SS officer. Josef worked at Auschwitz between May 1943 and January 1945. He not only was an SS officer he was also a doctor who had an interest in race theory, heterochromia, and his biggest fascination was twins. During hi.s reign of terror, Josef instilled fear into his victims. Josef would starve, strip, and experiment on his victims who were usually children under the age of 13. Josef and his assistants were firm believers that certain races were superior to other races. To prove race theory and to further understand what factors play into crime and prostitution this was one of the reasons that drove Josef to experiment. In January 1945 the Red Army infiltrated Auschwitz and from then on Josef was a war criminal. Sadly Josef fled to Argentina and died sometime in the late 70s. Josef was never brought to justice and evaded justice for 34 YEARS! His story is a testament to how awful the holocaust truly was. His impact will never go forgotten.
