Steven lived in Yugoslavia at the time of the German attack. being a Jew, him and his family faced the same racial laws as those in Germany. Steven was sent to two ghettos before being shipped to Auschwitz. He talks about traveling in the box cars and the lack of food and space within. Steven goes into depths about entering the camp and how he got separated from his family. He also talks about his experiences while in Auschwitz and what had happened to his family.
Agi was born in Hungary and talks about how her and her family were thrown into ghettos. they had worked in a factory before getting shipped to Auschwitz. She talks about the fear she had of the Nazis and how horrific it was for her as a child. she mentions the humiliation she felt while within the walls of Auschwitz. Agi, her sister, and her mother manged to survive the death camp
Tova lived in Poland and had more than 150 members of her family killed. Tova goes in depth about the train ride she took to Auschwitz. The first hour after arriving was the most memorable part. She remembers the smell of the burning bodies and traveling in with her mother. The barracks there were awful and cramped. She mentions how she was sent to the crematorium once, but was sent back. Her mother snuck her out of a death march and hid her in an infirmary. They both got out.
Rachel talks about how she was sent to the gas chambers and escaped. She talks about her life in Auschwitz and how at the point she had arrived, it was no longer a labor camps. She just sat around and talked to people if she could. She and her friend were chosen to get gassed after an inspection. Her friend decided to try and run and escape the que. They somehow manage to escape and end up back in the barracks.
