Baut Jugendherberge und Heime translated in English means ‘Build Youth Hostels and Homes.’ The image depicts a young blonde girl with pigtails, which is the ideal look of Hitler Youth children. The girl is holding a can, meant to collect money, that has flowers poking out of it and is adorned with Nazi colors and a swastika. The purpose of this poster is to influence and persuade in a more positive way. They want to make the community feel as if they are doing something good. All the colors and symbols in the image are extremely intentional, and are meant to be attention grabbing. The Nazis wanted the citizens of Germany to donate their money to build hostels and homes for their Youth programs.

This image comes from the coloring book of the children in Nazi Germany. Coloring pages like this were produced all throughout Germany in the 1930’s. This was their way of appealing to the young children about Hitler Youth. They enforced their beliefs into the younger generation by reforming education, and creating a system that did not allow for questions to be asked or officials to be challenged. They made it clear that their beliefs were the only ones, and that anything else was wrong. By doing this they brainwashed the younger generation, and forced them into obedience. They were successful at instilling the Nazi worldview into the oncoming generation. The picture shows five different boys all dressed up in military uniforms, all with very serious looks on their faces. One boy is holding up the Nazi flag, which stands out in comparison to the rest of the picture because it is in a bright red color.
