If you wish to do well on the tests consider doing the following:
Read the assigned readings to provide context for the weekly lessons
Write down the notes and pay attention to lectures
Complete the assignments on time and consider how they apply to the learning objectives
Ask questions during the Thematic Chart review
You do not have permission to take the test outside the classroom. In the event that you choose to violate testing security protocols by taking the test outside the room without teacher permission, you will earn a zero on the test and may be subject to further discipline reflective of the school academic dishonesty policy.
Student computers and tablets will not be accepted for testing purposes - you will be provided a hard copy of the test in the event that you do not have a school-issued laptop. You will be expected to provide a school-issued laptop in the future. If you continually ignore the laptop requirement you will have to take the test during lunch, as you will be sent to the Media Center to fix your computer issues.
Think of it like one of those tests you take equivalent to PSAT or AP testing.
The first opportunity for students to demonstrate what they learned over the course of the unit was the initial Unit Test. The fact that you are looking at this information suggests you are not content with your performance on the Unit Exam. Below is the recovery process for my class.
Take the initial Unit Test.
If you followed the process above with diligence you should do well.
If you feel you could better demonstrate your mastery on a different test then move on to Step 2.
Complete the Recovery Handout
Complete the Test Recovery Handout [ ▶️Link ] to reflect on why you missed the questions that you did.
You must submit this handout to the teacher before taking the Recovery Test.
Take the Recovery Test
Take the Recovery Test to demonstrate that you have mastered the content.
The Recovery Test will be a series of free response questions worth an equivalent amount of points to the original test
Here is an example of a Recovery Test [ ▶️Link ] in the form of the Unit 0 | Prehistory to 1650 test
Average the Grades
Your grade will be averaged by the teacher between the original score and the score you earned on the Recovery Test.
You do not have further opportunities to improve after completing this process once.
The sample Recovery Tests below are likely the ones that will be used for your recovery process. There is no reason to hide them from you as the FRQ questions are just modified from the readily available MSDE World History framework (see above).
Having said that, your teacher reserves the right to change the FRQs provided in the Recovery Tests.
