Using MRI to diagnosis Multiple Sclerosis in Children

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory illness of the central nervous system, commonly occurring in young female adults. However, it occurs frequently with children under age eighteen. The earliest discovery of MS in children was reported in the 19th century, but the development of pediatric medicine has allowed more accurate early stage diagnosis and evaluation in nowadays. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging examination is the most effective and accurate tool to diagnose multiple sclerosis. MRI with contrast dye can indicate active lesions on the white matter in the deep brain caused by inflammation, which can help with diagnosis MS. Therefore, MRI plays a significant role in the process of MS diagnosis.
