Females in the Media Industry

The project is an audio documentary exploring women in the media industry. This is a topic that I have been exploring on my own for a while because I’m a woman who wants to go into the film and media industry after graduation. Through my time in college, I have been told that the media industry and film industry is a tough field for women, especially women of color. In the audio documentary, I shed light on the gender gap in the film and media industry. I used and reflected on my experience with taking a Women in Global Film class, having women mentors who are in media, and my internship at National Geographic. I have two audio interviews with two women who have/do work in the media industry. The first interview is with Dr. Amber Hinsley, a Journalism professor here at SLU. The second interview is with Rebecca Jones, a video producer at National Geographic. I also did research myself to help the narration and storyline.

Jaskiran Singh would like to thank their faculty sponsor Ringo Jones for their support of this project.
