In this IRB approved study, we looked at how the lives of romantic couples have been affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Our objective was to get insight to develop possible interventions to help couples overcome the negative psychological impacts of the pandemic. To do this, we asked each partner to complete a series of surveys. The couple also had the option to submit an audio recorded conversation of themselves, discussing how the pandemic has affected them. We focused on data gathered from the surveys, which involved sleep, diet, mood, and relationship satisfaction of the couples. Through the multiple regression tests, it was revealed that during the peak of the pandemic there was a strong correlation between sleep quality, diet, mood, and relationship satisfaction. More specifically, we found that higher sleep quality was positively correlated with greater positive mood, family life satisfaction, and relationship satisfaction, while lower sleep quality significantly predicted negative moods. Furthermore, we found that while eating a healthy diet could not predict negative moods or relationship satisfaction, eating a healthy diet was positively correlated with greater family life satisfaction and positive mood. The results indicate that healthy habits that involve better sleep and diet can help improve one's mood and relationship satisfaction. Furthermore, these healthy habits could have major implications on the interpersonal relationships of families during the pandemic, which could impact coping against the negative psychological impacts of the pandemic.

Ammar Qureshi (my cousin), it is with his help that it was possible to set up the PowerPoint to display the study effectively. He helped make key points more concise, which photos to use in the presentation, as well what color schemes, etc., ought to be used. Dr. Dixie Meyer helped double check the presentation, just to make sure the statistics were accurate and that all necessary details of the study/project were covered.
