Welcome to the 2021 Senior Legacy Symposium!
My goal of my project is to discover patterns and trends within the romantic relationships of collegiate women during the COVID-19 pandemic. My project seeks to answer the question: "How did COVID-19 effect your relationship?" To answer this, I conducted interviews with many different women, usually over Zoom. I asked them to rate their overall satisfaction with their relationship for each month starting with March 2020 when the pandemic began and ending with March 2021. Thus, I was able to identify turning points in relationships as well as trigger conversation about specific pandemic-related memories. I have heard about different challenges and successes participants have faced, including those related to distance, COVID restrictions, and overall varying attitudes towards the pandemic. In the form of a paper, I hope to provide an analysis on these interviews that gives insight to a very unique time in history as well as insight as to the future of what life looks like for an actively dating collegiate. I hope that this research can contribute to the many various conversations about the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those related to social habits and mental health.

Jennifer Ohs has been very helpful and supportive throughout this process which was comforting for me as this was my first time ever conducting a research project of this scale. She is always willing to go the extra mile for her students!
