This May at the library we will be celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Japanese Carp Kite "Koinobori" Craft
Date and Time: Saturday, May 4th, 10:00am-12:00pm
Description: Come and celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by creating your very own Japanese Carp Kite, also known as "Koinobori" in Japanese. Koinobori are traditional carp-shaped windsocks flown in Japan to celebrate Children's Day on May 5th. Join us for this fun and educational craft activity suitable for all ages!
Registration is required, and can be done online or in person. Registration is limited to the first 50 registrants, but there will be a wait list for those interested once registration is full.
Staffing: 1 librarian and 1 library staff member to oversee the activity
Budget: $50 for art supplies.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Cultural Celebration Storytime
Date and Time: Saturday, May 18th, 3:00pm-5:00pm
Description: Join us for a special storytelling event as we celebrate the rich diversity of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) cultures! Families are invited to gather for an engaging and educational storytime session that highlights traditional tales, folklore, and legends from various Asian countries and Pacific Island nations. Through the power of storytelling, we'll explore the vibrant heritage, customs, and values of AAPI communities, fostering understanding and appreciation for these diverse cultures.
Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities through the magic of storytelling! Join us at the library for a memorable and enriching experience for the whole family. We look forward to seeing you there!

Kids Card Making Station
Date and Time: all month long during open hours
Unleash your creativity at our Kid's Card-Making Station! Drop by the library anytime during open hours to design and craft your own special cards for any occasion. Whether it's a birthday, thank you note, Mother's Day, Father's Day, or just to spread some cheer, this station is the perfect place to let your imagination soar.
Staffing: 1 library staff member to oversee the supplies
