Storytelling from Around the World with Michael D. McCarty

Description: Prepare to be enthralled as Michael D. McCarty brings his unique and high-energy style of storytelling to our library. Through a dynamic blend of folk tales, historical narratives, and personal stories, Michael will transport audiences of all ages to distant lands and bygone eras, sharing the struggles, triumphs, joys, and beauty of African and African-American heritage.
From the shores of West Africa to the streets of Harlem, from the cotton fields of the American South to the jazz clubs of Chicago, Michael's storytelling illuminates the resilience, creativity, and resilience of the Black experience. Through his words, we'll gain a deeper understanding of the contributions and challenges faced by African and African-American communities throughout history.
Whether it's a tale of courage and determination, a lesson in perseverance and hope, or a moment of laughter and joy, Michael's stories will leave a lasting impact on all who listen. Registration is required, and can be done online or in person. Registration is limited to the first 100 registrants, but there will be a wait list for those interested once registration is full.
Staffing: 2 library staff members to set up, check-in participants, and clean up.
Budget: $350 for the performer
