About me
Hi! My name is Leila Holmes and I am in my final semester at SJSU. This website is the culminating project for INFO 260A: Programming and Services for Children (Birth to Age 12). I am based in Lancaster, CA and my goal is to become a librarian. I have worked for the public library in various paraprofessional roles for 24 years. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, Disney, and running.
About the Project
The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate my ability to create a year of programming for youth age 0-12 in a public library setting.
By embracing the idea of multiliteracies, these programs are both enjoyable and educational, designed to accommodate all kids and their different ways of learning. They also cover the five modes of literacy mentioned below (Baker, 2017):
Visual Literacy
Textual Literacy
Digital Media Literacy
Social Literacy
Multisensory Literacy
Location
The Holmes Public Library is fictional. For the purpose of the assignment the library will be located within the LA County Public Library System, Los Angeles County California.
Images and thumbnails used throughout the project were created using Canva, unless otherwise noted.
