July's Theme: Summer Fun
This July at the library we will be celebrating all things summer. Join us for our recurring programs as well as the following special events.

Read, Renew, Repeat Book Bag Decorating
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 2nd, 4:00pm-6:00pm
Description: Renew your love for reading and express your creativity at our Read, Renew, Repeat Book Bag Decorating Program! As part of our Summer Reading Program children are invited to design and decorate their own book bags to kickstart their summer reading adventures.
Kids can let their imaginations run wild as they adorn their bags with motifs, designs, and messages that reflect the joy of reading. From whimsical characters to inspiring quotes and everything in between, there are endless possibilities for customizing book bags that will inspire and delight readers of all ages. Plus, decorating a book bag is a wonderful way to renew your commitment to reading and carry your favorite stories with you wherever you go this summer!
This program is perfect for children of all ages and skill levels, and all materials will be provided. Registration is required, and can be done online or in person. Registration is limited to the first 50 registrants, but there will be a wait list for those interested once registration is full.

Jungle Geebo: Safari Show
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 9th, 4:00pm-5:00pm
Description: Step into the wild and embark on an adventure with Jungle Geebo! Jungle Geebo is a bilingual performer and entertainer who brings the excitement of the jungle to life through interactive storytelling, comedy, and music. During this lively and engaging program, Jungle Geebo will take children on a thrilling journey through the jungle, where they'll encounter exotic animals, brave daring challenges, and discover the wonders of the natural world. Through interactive storytelling and audience participation, Jungle Geebo will spark imaginations and inspire a love for exploration and adventure. (Jungle Geebo, n.d.)
Registration is required, and can be done online or in person. Registration is limited to the first 100 registrants, but there will be a wait list for those interested once registration is full.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 16th check in begins at 6:30pm. Stuffed friends can be picked up the following day during open hours.
Description: Get ready for a magical overnight adventure at the library with our Stuffed Animal Sleepover! Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animals for a night of fun, friendship, and imagination. During this special event, kids will tuck their stuffed animals in for a cozy night at the library. They'll say goodnight to their furry friends and leave them in the care of our friendly librarians, who will ensure they have a memorable evening filled with exciting activities and surprises. Throughout the night, our stuffed animal guests will embark on their own library adventure. They may explore the shelves, read bedtime stories, play games, and even enjoy a midnight snack! Children can follow along on our library's social media pages or return the next day to see photos and hear about the antics of their stuffed animal companions.
The next morning, children are invited back to the library to pick up their well-rested stuffed animals and hear all about their overnight escapades. It's a delightful way to spark imagination, encourage a love for reading, and create lasting memories at the library.
Don't miss out on the fun - bring your favorite stuffed animal to the library for a sleepover they'll never forget!

Dances From Around the World with the Gypsy Folk Ensemble
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 23rd 4:00pm-5:00pm
Description: Join us for The Gypsy Folk Ensemble! This is a dynamic and talented group of performers who celebrate cultural diversity and traditional folk arts through their captivating performances.
During this special event, families are invited to immerse themselves in a cultural journey as the Gypsy Folk Ensemble takes the stage. Through lively music, colorful costumes, and mesmerizing dance routines, audiences will be transported to distant lands and experience the rich tapestry of folk traditions from around the world. From the spirited rhythms of Eastern Europe to the passionate dances of the Mediterranean, the Gypsy Folk Ensemble showcases the beauty and diversity of folk music and dance with skill and enthusiasm. Summer Reading Carnival Closeout!
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 30th 3:00-5:00pm
Description: Step right up and join us for a day of literary fun and excitement at our Summer Reading Carnival! This spectacular event is the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and the joy of accomplishing all that summer reading!
There is no registration for this event, all participants will be welcomed. We will have indoor and outdoor activities.
Staffing: 3 library staff members, 10 teen volunteers.
Budget: $150 for light refreshments, the library will also provide carnival prizes. We have the games from previous years builds.

Summer Lunch at the Library
Date and Time: Tuesday -Friday, 12pm-1pm, June 11th - August 2nd
Description: Join us for a free Summer Lunch at the Library each open weekday at the library. Kids 18 and under will be invited to partake in our free summer lunch in partnership with LA County parks and recreation department and the California State Library.
Lunch is provided first come, first serve. Participants are required to keep the lunch in the meeting room.
Staff: 1 full time staff member and 2 part time employees. (The partnership has allowed us to hire 2 part time employees specifically to assist with this program.)
Budget: n/a this is a grant funded program through our partnerships.
