May 4 - first prairie blooms

Blue-eyed grass has bloomed in the prairie, but not yet in the woodlands.

Big surprise, Pasque flower bloomed in the front of the house, after being removed for years, I am moving it to the prairie.

Most successful germination this year was with Solomon's seal and White trillium, the populations of both species have increased substantially.

Wild Columbine are plentiful, and vigorous- looking forward to the blooms.

Virginia Blue Bells have faded, and Sweet Cecily is beginning to bloom in the woods.

Drifts of Woodland Phlox and May Apples grab our attention in the long view.

White Trillium shift to a variegated pink, almost like a new species!

The air is delightfully sweet with Black Cherry blossoms. I can tell I am home, 2 miles away from the house, just by the wonderful fragrance coming in through the car windows.

The blooms on the Flowering Dogwoods are finally starting to fade. They were spectacular this year!

The warm temperatures of March followed by a cool April, allowed the blooms to linger for weeks.
