Lafora Testing will become an ABS Requirement from 1st January 2015

Roger Sainsbury, Chairman of our Health Sub-committee, received the following news from the KC today:I am writing to inform you that, under the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme, the Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund has had its requirements and/or recommendations adjusted as follows:

Change from a recommendation to a requirement:

· DNA test – Lafora’s disease

This change is effective from January 1, 2015 and Assured Breeders have a period of grace of six months in order to come into line with these new requirements and/or recommendations.

A Kennel Club press release announcing the changes for all relevant breeds will be issued shortly.
