Cuisine

French cuisine stands at a transitory point. The elaborate medieval feasts of the early Ancien Régime are slowly being replaced with more refined dishes and a wider array of ingredients. Although it is in the reign of Louis XIV (the current king’s son) in which French cuisine is truly transformed into a high art, in the pseudo-fictional world of All for One these changes occur a few decades earlier and are already being felt.

Food, like accents and customs, is extremely regional. This supplement describes food in general terms, and makes no attempt to list or define specific dishes. If you’re in any doubt as to whether a specific foodstuff existed in 1636, go with what works best or the story. After all, this is a game that assumes demons are real, so inventing ice cream a few decades early won’t do much to spoil the realism.
