Firearms are among the most technologically advanced, and thus rarest, weapons in modern Golarion. Most of these gunpowder projectile weapons are manufactured in the magic-bereft city-state of Alkenstar, where advanced engineering, access to raw materials and necessity have perfected the art over thousands of years. Over ninety percent of all firearms in the world are owned and maintained within Alkenstar itself, but mercenaries, emigrants and highly profitable trade have spread these weapons out throughout throughout the world if one knows where to look for them. In general, guns manufactured in the massive Gunworks are of basic quality, but more artistic gunsmiths and craftsmen populate Alkenstar City and are more than willing to make custom weapons of higher quality or upgrade existing, production-line units. The most popular firearm in Golarion is the pistol. Examples of other firearms include the musket and the revolver.Firearms In Play
Firearms belong to a unique weapon group, that encompasses all firearms, from those forged in Alkenstar to the strange devices discovered in ruins dotted about Numeria. Proficiency in firearms grants proficiency with all firearms, though in the case of technological firearms it's probably best to have someone point out to you where the barrel and trigger are first - for everyone's safety, of course! The following firearms and ammunition are available for purchase for starting characters. Please note that Torch itself does not produce gunpowder or firearms, though they have the necessary components. Anyone proficient with firearms can also craft gunpowder and bullets.
Reloading Firearms: Reloading a firearm will either take a move action or a minor action. A character who takes the Speed Loader feat can reload a move action firearm as a minor action and a minor action firearm as a free action. The only way to reload a move-action reload firearm is with both the speed loader and firearm expertise feats.
Firearms and Feats: Firearms are considered crossbows AND firearms for the purposes of feats and abilities. One-handed firearms are considered hand crossbows for feats and abilities.
Magical Firearms: Any enchantment that can be applied to a crossbow can be applied to a firearm. One-handed firearms are considered hand crossbows for enchantment purposes.
Firearms and Special Ammunition: In addition to special gunpowder, firearm ammunition can be made into any special ammunition available to bolts or stones.
Firearms
Pistol: A pistol is a small, simple, single-shot firearm. Its small size makes it easy to conceal and wield with a single hand. They are the most common firearm in the Inner Sea region, though still rare enough to be a curiosity. They require bullets and gunpowder to fire.
Revolver: Revolvers are one of the few firearms on Golarion with a five-round capacity, and is one of the most technologically advanced firearms. It is also the most expensive firearm, and the rarest. Only Alkenstar manufactures these advanced firearms and they guard their secrets jealously.
Special: A revolver has a chamber which can fit 5 alchemical cartridges. The revolver does not need to reload until all five cartridges have been expended. Reloading a revolver is a minor action for one round, standard action for all 5.
Musket: A heavy and cumbersome firearm, the musket requires two hands to aim and is time-consuming to reload. The high damage potential is the main draw for this 10-pound, smooth-bored gun. They are second only to the pistol as the most common firearm in the Inner Sea region, though still rare enough to be a curiosity. They require bullets and gunpowder to fire.

Bandolier: A bandolier is a leather belt that holds firearm ammunition for easy reloading during a fight. It can be worn around the waist or over the shoulders and across the chest. When wearing a bandolier, you can draw ammunition as a free action.
Holster: A holster is a good way to keep a gun close. Some adventurers new to firearms call it a “gun scabbard.” Pistol and revolver holsters are worn at the hip. Musket holsters are slung over the back.
Gunslinger's Kit: Comes with all the tools a gunslinger might need. Gun cleaning tools, bullet molds, extra gunpowder horns, and the tools necessary for making gunpowder itself.
