Trek Planner

Overview

The Trek Planner provides you with travel directions via public transit. It's broken up into three tabs: New Query to start a new trip, Saved Queries to re-execute a saved search, and Saved Directions to view previously acquired directions offline.

New Query

The A Button denotes the starting point. Pushing this button will set the start location to "My Location", indicating you want to do a trip from your current location.

The start location should ideally be a complete address, but can be an intersection, point of interest, landmark, or search term.

The more information you can provide (city, state, zip code, neighborhood, etc) the faster and more accurate the results will be.

The B Button denotes the destination location. Pushing this button will set the destination to "My Location", indicating you want to do a trip to your current location.

The destination location should also ideally be a complete address, but can be an intersection, point of interest, landmark, or search term.

Again, the more information you can provide (city, state, zip code, neighborhood, etc) the faster and more accurate the results will be.

Click the Arriving / Departing button to select whether you want to arrive or depart at a given time.

Click the Date button to choose the date of trip.

Click the Time button to choose the time of the trip on the selected date.

Click the Reverse button to swap the values of the "A" and "B" fields.

Once the fields are filled out, hit the Get Directions button to execute the query and get directions.

If found, you are taken to the Trek Planner Results screen to see your options.

If getting directions failed for any reason, a popup message is shown elaborating on the problem.

Saved Queries

If you plan to use the same query multiple times (like going from "My Location" to your home address) you can save the query for later.

Just click the star button on the Trek Planner Results screen to be prompted to save a name for the query (like "To Home"). Click OK and the query is saved in the list.

Anytime you need those same directions, just click the entry in the saved queries list - it will automatically start the search for directions.

At the top of the list, you have the option to change whether you want to arrive or depart at a specific time.

Press and hold on any of your saved queries to bring up the following options:

Rename

Allows you to change the name for the selected query.

Move Up

Moves the selected query one slot up in the list.

Move Down

Moves the selected query one slot down in the list.

Delete

Deletes the selected query from the saved queries list.

Saved Directions

If you have previously saved a set of directions from the Directions page, they will appear in the Saved Directions List.

This is useful for reviewing a set of instructions later when you may not have network and data connectivity.

Select an item in the list to review the full step-by-step instructions for those directions in the Directions screen.

Press and hold on any one of your saved directions to bring up the following options:

Rename

Allows you to change the name for the selected directions.

Move Up

Moves the selected directions one slot up in the list.

Move Down

Moves the selected directions one slot down in the list.

Delete

Deletes the selected directions from the saved directions list.
