Tony (July 6, 2011)

Updates are now failing for CTA trains.

My Little Tony - I'm sorry you're having issues.

First, please understand that the Android Market is not a support channel - if you need help with something, please just email me.

For example, if you had emailed me, I would have asked: "Did you update your saved Treks for 'L' trains as instructed on the 'What's New?' screen?"

You probably would have said: "Nope, I don't read that stupid thing. You write too much crap."

Then I would've said: "I know, I talk a lot. I'm compensating for something ... I'm sorry. But that would be the problem.

As I tried to explain in that message, changing the 'L' trains from being based on schedules to using the new CTA Train Tracker invalidated the Stop IDs so you have to reset your Treks.

To do this, long-press each 'L' train Trek, select Edit, then re-select the starting stop (and optionally add a destination stop)."

Then you would've replied: "Ah! Thanks! Got it! Good thing I emailed you and quickly got help and fixed the problem and didn't rush to leave an unfounded 1-star rating on the Android Market over something that was my own misunderstanding leading me to be without the app functionality for an extended period of time and forcing you to post an asinine response to my comment on your blog!"

Then I would've replied: "I know right! That would be lame! Good thing that didn't happen!"

My Rating:

Manually updating 'L' train Treks is now failing for some users.
