Family
This was written in April 2009. My family got along, but not all do. Thanks to my friend Stacy Dulan for the nice harmony added in 2013.
Lyrics
There are some times I feel alone,
Times I feel that the world has grown
Into something that feels a lot like stone,
And stone doesn’t feel at all.
These are the times I can look around,
Gather up all the good friends I’ve found,
Throw a big party, make a joyful sound
And think about family.
You didn’t get to chose your mom or your dad
Or the brothers or sisters that you might have had.
Some weren’t so good, some weren’t so bad.
Sometimes it did not work at all.
But sooner or later you figure it out.
That’s only a part of what a family’s about.
So I chose good friends, love 'em out loud
And make 'em my family.
What would I do without family,
Without the people who matter to me?
What would I do without family?
What would I do without you?
You can pick me up
When I’m feeling down.
It always comforts me
Just to know that you’re around.
What would I do without family,
Without the people who matter to me?
What would I do without family?
What would I do without you?
What would I do without you?
What would I do without you?
What would I do without you?
