Section 12.1. Explain what X-linked inheritance is in humans.

a. Define X-linked inheritance and provide examples of X-linked disorders.

b. Explain the value of having two X chromosomes.

c. Define allele and explain what a recessive disorder is.

d. Explain (using a punnett square) how a male and female could have or be carriers for X-linked disorders (ex: color blindness).

Section 12.2. Explain what autosomal genetic disorders are.

a. Define autosomal disorders and provide examples.

b. describe sickle-cell anemia

c. distinguish between dominant and recessiev disorders.

d. use punnett squares to predict the probability of having children with autosomal disorders (ex: father is a carrier for Huntington's and mother has the disease).

Section 12.3. Be able to create and interpret a pedigree.

Section 12.4. Describe polyploidy and provide an example.

Section 12.5. Describe aneuploidy and provide an example.

Section 12.6. Describe structural problems with chromosomes and the effect it would have on an organism. Ex: duplication is a chromosome error. Also, be able to interpret a karyotype.
