Biology is a science course designed to give students an overview and strong foundation of how the living world works. Students will study four major topics in the course: biological structure of life (biological molecules and organization of living systems), how organisms obtain and use energy, how organisms respond, adapt, reproduce, pass on their traits and evolve and explain the diversity of life. This core course is intended to provide a solid foundation in life sciences for students as required by the Iowa Core science standards.
