[Mar 16, 2018] "Sense and Sensibility: Visual Design Principles for Scientific Data" with Martin Krzywinski

Post date: Mar 18, 2018 9:59:09 PM

This past Friday we were lucky enough to host a workshop led by Martin Krzywinski, staff scientist at the Genome Sciences Center (BC Cancer Agency). Martin is renowned for his ability to effectively communicate science to a wide audience and he was here at SFU to help us improve the way we present data and concepts.

We had a full house for the workshop! A lot of people were interested in building better figures, thats why before the workshop everyone was given the opportunity to submit their own figures for re-design by Martin. He gave us tips on how to use colour, lines, spacing, and other techniques to clarify the meaning behind our results.

All-in-all this was a very productive workshop! We hope to see you at the next one!
