Support

If you would like to support the SFU Omics Group and initiative, please feel free to contact us at sfu-omics-organizers@sfu.ca.

The Omics Group at SFU would like to thank all the group members for coming to the meetings and taking part in building an Omics Community at SFU. In addition, we want to thank a few notable sources of support that allow us to make this group possible!

OMICS DATA SCIENCE INITIATIVE (ODSI)

The team wants to acknowledge the current support of the ODSI and their driving motivation to establish a community of trainees interested in Data Science and Bioinformatics applications to biological data.

The SFU Omics Data Science Initiative responds to growing needs for computational methods for the study of life sciences, in particular in the areas of public health microbiology and precision medicine. More information is available through this link.

SFU's Big Data Initiative:

We would like to acknowledge the generous contribution made by KEY, SFU's Big Data Initiative (KEY) to support the SFU Omics Group. KEY aims to spark new collaborations that combine big questions and big ideas with data-intensive discovery. On top of their contribution, they have provided us with a home for our monthly meetings and they help ensure that our meetings go smoothly, from planning the room booking to AV the day of the meeting. You can find out more about KEY on their website.

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences:

We would like to acknowledge the generous contribution made by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences (IRMACS) to support the SFU Omics Group. The IRMACS institute appreciates the importance of facilitating the human interactions that are critical in interdisciplinary research and enables collaborative interaction, which is exactly what we are trying to do for Omics at SFU! Their support not only made these meetings possible, but also reinforced the importance of our initiative. You can find out more about IRMACS on their website.

The Graduate Student Society at SFU:SFU Omics Group received an Inter-Caucus Network Grant from the GSS, which serves to promote cross-caucus social and professional development activities. You can check out their website for more information about the GSS.
