Trifle
You've got to eat this one!
You need four things (plus more).
mangolia chocolate cake, half the recipe, baked in a 9-inch spring form.
chocolate pudding
jam
whipped cream
The fresher the better! All could be store bought but it might not taste great.
Ingredients:
mangolia chocolate cake
1/3 cup sugar
3 tbsp corn starch
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
jam (or take any type of berries boil them with sugar (to your taste) until the mixture gets thick and then pulp them)
whipping cream
Method:
Combine sugar and cornstarch. Whisk in eggs and milk.
Microwave for 2 mins and then whisk well.
Microwave for a further 3-5 minutes or until thickened.
Stir in vanilla and chocolate chips.
Cover with plastic wrap. The wrap should touch the top of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming. Set aside for 5-10 minutes (to cool).
Break up the cake (have fun!) and arrange half on the bottom of a trifle dish (or any dish that has straight sides).
Add some water to the jam and heat so that it is pourable. Pour over the cake just to coat the top. (You can also add some alchohol to the jam to moisten the cake).
Spread half the pudding on top of this.
Spread whipped cream on top of the pudding. (Add a layer of fresh fruit if desired).
Repeat the layering begining with the cake. Top with fresh fruit, sprinkles, roasted nuts, or what ever the heart desires.
