kamrans dahl
1 cup maisoor lentil
1 cup yellow split peas
4 cups water
2 medium tomatoes
salt to taste
red chillie powder to taste
ginger garlic paste to taste (2 tbsp spoons?) (1:1)
pinch of tumeric (for colour)
2 tbsp garam masala
slow cook for ever (1.5 hrs)
temper: in the following order
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black mustard seeds
2-3 dry chillie peppers to taste
1 clove garlic
can substitute some of the onion for garlic. do the onion first.
add temper to dahl and mix.
add lemon to taste (2 long squeezes)
NOTE: when mixing dahl's not a precise science however, should have more yellow than red.
