2-11-2007 (Friday): Wrote "cha". Read "Monarai avichchiyai" and "Maha Gangvathurai labu gediyai" told by J.B.Disanayaka. Finished nose and smell. Did the science page on skin. Sang the five senses song to bingo. Coloured the swiss flag stuck it on the map. Looked at a Swiss picture book. Listened to people playing the alpine horn http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4532946525749815518 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9189221327651753316
Breathing excersises, row row row your boat, number i spy book.
denali's started napping again :)
10-11-2007 (Saturday): Wrote more "cha". Revised the five senses and sang the five senses song. Did the colour's page from the science book. Mixed primary colours to get secondary colours and painted them. Mixed black with white to get grey. Coloured the caterpillar.
14-11-2007 (Wednesday): Breathing excersises, downward facing dog, supta virasana. Read "tunja, tunja, tunja" a palastinian folk tale. Did the shapes page in the science book. Made pictures with pattern blocks. Learned to write "4". Coloured "ma" colouring page. Played the "magic flute" game on computer (got this on a cd-rom from the library).
16-11-2007 (Friday): More on shapes from the science book. did the lesson on "large and small" in the science book. read richard scarry's word book on shapes and opposites. Wrote "ma" on dotted lines. Wrote "D" for Denali!! also on dotted lines. Did another shape sorting puzzle (number 3).
19-11-2007 (Monday): Did the lesson on long and short from science book. Wrote more "D"'s on dotted lines. Denali can now recognise a "D" when she see's it in words, but only capitals. Practised writing some "4".
21-11-2007 (Wednesday): Worked on number recognition. Made a page of numbers 0 - 9 and had denali circle the one's and the two's. Denali first found all she could by herself then I ran my finger along each line and she told me to stop when I reached an uncircled one). Tried some letter recognition with the sinhala alphabet with "ta", "va", "cha", and "ma". I think they look too similar because she had a hard time. Will leave till later. Wrote more "D" on dotted line and tried some on lined practise paper.
23-11-2007 (Friday): Coloured the Australian flag (printed to 50%) and stuck it on our world map. Wrote a line of simple "e". I filled in the whole line with dotted "e"s because I couldn't find such a sheet on line. Let me know if anyone reading this find's one!
26-11-2007 (Monday): Read Richard Scarry's word book. Science lesson on hard and soft. Denali cut out pictures from magazines and stuck them on paper. Then we made a card to tag "papa's" present. [Cut a piece of letter (A4) sized card stock in to 4 equal pieces, fold one piece into two, cut a motif from the front of the card (in this case a christmas tree), decorate the front with glitter, glue a piece of see through paper on the inside to get a window effect, allow to dry before writing inside. We used red construction paper and green see through paper.]
28-11-2007 (Wednesday): Watched The wiggles in "wiggly safari" a dvd with an australian theme. Read "Rainbow bird" an aboriginal folk tale by Eric Maddern. Listened to various didgeridoo video's on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g592I-p-dc&feature=related - this one was the best with the player painted in typical aboriginal style
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC9w4KWEgJE&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rshWZU56wkQ&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF_Hw8l01LI&feature=related - Denali enjoyed this one the most.
Read the "Book of Opposites" by .... and then reviewed our five senses and opposites as done in the science book. We did the next lesson on rough and smooth. Need to complete this lesson. Wrote "3" and "4" on dotted lines. Denali's hand control is getting much better. Used the number recognition sheet (see 21-11-2007) and circled the number three's. Denali, by herself, with no prompting, ran her finger along the lines to find the numbers. She got lazy after three lines and I had to supply a finger!
30-11-2007 (Friday): Read "Are we there yet?" by Alison Lester. A story about a family's road trip around Australia.
