Objectives: To provide students with an opportunity to compare linear and exponential characteristics and evaluate which characteristics are appropriate to describe each of these function classes.
Preliminaries/Lead-In: Hand out this review activity the day before you will review for the exam in class. Tell students to try their best on it and be ready to come back to ask questions - remind them that we will not go through every question so they need to know which ones they particularly want to see.
Suggested Procedures: I usually ask students which problems they had trouble on and talk about those as a class - if they don't have any (even if this is because they haven't started it yet) I then don't go over anything ....
Wrap-Up/Take-Away: I will sometimes tell them that I will send out a solution key a day before the exam but I don't know if we want to do this this time - what do people think?
