Mairead's Reflection:
I pretty much let them get started on this in class today first thing - I didn't say much except to emphasize that there was no wrong answer to the first graph. I told them just to use whatever they knew to get started on it. Some students took a long time to get through this so I handed out Part II as people got finished but told the class that we would not talk about any of it together until everyone had gotten to Part II. This took almost 30 mins. At that point I pulled them together and we talked mainly about the second part of the activity. I'll write about that there.
