Residents remove junk, construct trail on April 25 cleanup day

On April 25, Boston Shines Day, the Task Force and volunteers collected trash and did trail maintenance in the Wetlands. They targeted a low-lying perimeter stretch of land parallel to Walter Street. The haul from this former dumping ground included large piles and wide scatterings of unsightly metal, glass, rubber, plastic, and wood trash. (See photos of the junk that remains by visiting our photo gallery.)

Residents have removed tons of junk from the Wild since 2004, yet much remains for future cleanups. The newly spruced up appearance of this defined site off lower Walter Street supports earlier trail work done by the youth crew. Come walk the entire trail sometime soon, including this attractive section!
