Hello, volunteers - goodbye, junk pile!

Post date: Apr 30, 2010 12:26:34 AM

A dozen volunteers lifted, sorted, toted, and untangled to get rid of a pile of accumulated junk along the Roslindale Wetlands perimeter trail on Saturday, April 24, in conjunction with the Boston Shines cleanup. Asphalt chunks and rusty metal objects were schlepped along the trail to a donated dumpster, granite cobblestones and bricks were set aside for possible reuse, and the remaining concrete chunks were arranged as an attractive border around a tree. Volunteers also picked out shards of glass to make the trail safer and fished two tires out of the swamp. Thanks to everyone who lent a hand!
