This 5km (3 mile) walk starts from Hursley Church and finishes in Ampfield. It can be shortened by not taking the loop through Wide Wood and walking up Knapp lane instead.
The start and finish are both on the Number 66 bus route
There is the King's Head pub in Hursley and White Horse pub in Ampfield which provide welcome shelter and refreshments at the start and finish of the walk.

From the bus stop, walk a little way in the Winchester direction and take the first turning on the left by the Village Hall.

At the end of the lane, take the woodland path into the Hursley Estate. Follow this path through the woods until you reach some run down garages and the entrance to the primary school.

At the gates into the school, turn sharp right and follow the footpath.

Follow the path between the lines of trees and into the woods. Keep going until you reach Knapp Lane.

Turn right into Ampfield Woods. Follow the gravel track until you come to a junction. Turn left along the main track. Keep going until you reach the Monarch's Way.

Turn left up the Monarch's Way path. Continue through the Hiller Tree Nursery and back out onto Knapp Lane. Turn right and follow the lane back to the main road.
