Stockbridge Loop

This 5.7 mile, easy walk, starts and finishes in the main street of Stockbridge where there is free street parking in what was the broad market street. There are lots of cafes in Stockbridge and some dog friendly shops. The Peat Spade pub is also half way round and welcomes dogs in the bar.
After a gentle climb, the route is fairly flat, offering farmland vistas and quaint river crossings. It finishes along the Test Way back to Stockbridge centre

Head west along the main street and out along the A30.  Where the road veers right, a track continues straight on. Take this.
Just before the houses, a footpath goes off to the right over a stile. A short distance along, you meet the main road which you need to cross with care and continue along the footpath on the other side.
Follow the footpath along the edge to the field. It strays left before meeting a restricted byway to the right. Take this until it meets the road.  At the road junction, take the byway in the corner of the lay-bye. When this meets the road in Longstock, by the church, turn left along the along the road and then right by the pub.
Continue across the river valley, crossing the braids of the River Test several times. Just before the main road, there is a "hump" taking it over the old railway line. Take the footpath on the right, just before the hump. This takes you down to join the Test Way path back to Stockbridge.
