MU Medical Surge Program (MSP)

Concept

MU Disaster Immediate Response Program – MU Disaster Immediate Medical Surge Program – MU Disaster Immediate Medical Service Program

Send out Mu Disaster Medical Response Teams (MU DMRT) to any areas in the country where there is a disaster (particularly earthquake) and where is a surge of patients needing medical service.

MMDA is preparing for the big earthquake in Metro Manila.

MMDA is recruiting 8,000 volunteers in preparation for the big earthquake in Metro Manila.

MMDA is conducting training for volunteers (July 20-21, 2015; July 22-23; July 24-25; July 27-28) – 1st day – 6 to 8 pm; 2nd day – 8 to 5 pm) – at MMDA Main Office in Guadalupe, Makati (EDSA corner Orense St., Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City)

Tel. 882-4151 to 77 Loc 367; 09239275120 (Mike)

Let’s use the MMDA training program to jump start the MU MSP.

I have signed up online as volunteer. I will attend. Lance will attend. We will attend on July 22-23, 2015.

I enjoin MU brods (even sisses), particularly, 2018 and 2019 brods, to attend the 1.2 day training course. As much as possible, we attend as a group – target: 15 to 30 brods (and sisses).

After the training, we form the MU Disaster Medical Response Teams and organize the MU Medical Surge Program.

Mu Sigma Phi Medical Surge Program (MSP- MSP)

It is essentially a program that consists of forming teams of MU consultants (mainly surgeons and anesthesiologists) ready to respond to disaster (particularly earthquake) anywhere in the Philippines.

There will be teams formed in all cities or provinces of the country ready to respond in case of need.

In times of disasters (particularly earthquakes) anywhere in the Philippines, we send out Mu Medical Surge Program Teams or Mu Disaster Medical Response Teams (MU DMRT) during the first 3-5 days of disasters.

We will coordinate with RED CROSS which may put up tent hospitals or we will work within the hospitals that are still functional but in need of medical manpower.

Each team will offer medical services to the surge of the patients for about 3 to 5 days only. If there is a need to render medical services for a longer period of time, another team will be sent to relieve the previous team.

We need a Command Center for the MSP (which will be online).

We need to have a directory of the MU DMRTs - contact numbers.

We need to have standardization of procedures in rendering our medical surge program.

I am enjoining MU to form MU MSP and to form several MU DMRTs stationed all over the country. Each team will consist of a general surgeon, orthopedic surgeon, thoracic surgeon, neurosurgeon, otorhinolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, 2 anesthesiologists, and 2 surgeon-assistants. A urologist and other surgical specialists may be added to the team. There will be teams formed in all cities or provinces of the country ready to respond in case of need. In times of disasters (particularly earthquakes) anywhere in the Philippines, we send out Mu Disaster Medical Response Teams (MU DMRT) during the first 3-5 days of disasters. This will be aligned and integrated into the MU Relief Program.
