ROJoson's Words of Appreciation fro CTY

I like to thank you @Sandy Chua Yu and @Abby Chua Tanlimco for taking the initiative of helping the Filipinos in the fight against COVID19. You are considered HEROES. You are the first group to have supplied the largest number of aerosol boxes and swab shields in the hospitals in the Philippines - 95. You are the only one who provided swab shields. All others just provided aerosol boxes. Athough we don't have stats, those using your boxes and shields, the anesthesiologists particularly and the ER staff who used the swab shields were protected from being infected. THANK YOU, ABBY AND SANDY.

Resolution:

Dr. Reynaldo O. Joson and HelpThru will continue this worthwhile project.

Will look for other suppliers in the country.

Will coordinate for efficiency and also so that all hospitals will have these boxes and swab shields in the fight against COVID19.

Aerosol Box

The Aerosol Box is a transparent cube made of acrylic or polycarbonate that covers a patient's head during endotracheal intubation, a necessary procedure for infected new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients who suffer respiratory failure.

It has two holes on one side through which physicians can insert their hands to perform the procedure while being shielded from the patient's respiratory droplets.

The design could come in handy, as the soaring number of COVID-19 patients worldwide means more patients will need to undergo intubation, putting medical personnel at risk as medical resources such as air-purifying respirators and N95 masks are depleted.

Estimated local cost: P1600 / box (according to Sandy)

Reminder on disinfecting aerosol box

To those who are using acrylic material as part of their PPE, do NOT disinfect it with alcohol. Alcohols can instantly or slowly cause porosity in acrylic material.

They might not crack but repeated exposure will damage it. "LUMULUTONG"

It is recommended to disinfect it with SOAP and WATER only.

What could be a good name for the box and stand?

Aerosols are a subset of air pollution that refers to the tiny particles suspended everywhere in our atmosphere. These are what the box and the stand are trying to contain or prevent being inhaled by the health workers doing procedures on the mouth, nose, throat and respiratory tree of a patient.

"Aerosol box" and "Aerobox" are terms that I have seen in the Internet and Facebook being used to refer to boxes done for the purpose of trying to contain aerosols that may contain COVID-19.

Aerobox is commonly or popularly used for fitness program.

I think "aerosol box" is more appropriate than "aerobox" (unless it will be used as a brand).

Thus, I go for Aerosol Box Against COVID-19.

Swab shield is more appropriate that swab stand. Swab shield connotes there is a shield to protect the health workers while doing the swab.
