Create a unique and personalised gift for someone special or yourself.
In this three-hour workshop, we will craft a delicate, contemporary-shaped bowl that is as functional as it is beautiful. Made from white stoneware clay, these bowls are food and oven-safe, making them perfect for everything from keeping trinkets tidy to serving as a small, stylish dish at the dinner table.
During the workshop, you will learn how to use a slump mould to create this contemporary-shaped bowl before adding your choice of colour using underglazes directly onto the wet clay. You will then etch your design into the underglaze, allowing the natural white of the clay to show through.
You can follow my simple and elegant seedhead designs or create an elaborate pattern of your own. Alternatively, you are free to hand-paint any design of your choice using the underglazes. If you have a specific design in mind, feel free to bring a drawing along with you to guide your etching (the bowl size is approximately 21cm x 13cm). Letter stamps are also provided, allowing you to add a name or a personal message for someone special.
Once your design is complete, your bowl will be dried and fired, after which a layer of transparent glaze is added to bring your colours to life and give it a professional, glossy finish.
This workshop is perfectly suited for beginners and includes all clay, tools, underglazes, and letter stamps.
Clay, tools, mould, underglazes, letter stamps and design ideas provided. Bring your own apron if you wish to protect your clothes.
Your handcrafted keepsake will be ready to collect from the venue approximately two to three weeks after the session.
Come along, learn a new skill, and create a piece of pottery that will be cherished for years to come.
