Enjoy A Sweet Day of Clay Creation!
This is a full day workshop (10am to 3pm) so you have lots of time to build and decorate this sweet little house. You can put a tea light or a small set of lights under it to illuminate it.
Friday 15th and Saturday 16th November, FULL DAY
@ By Heather May, 8-10 Chapel Street, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3DL
We will use terracotta clay to make our gingerbread as, when fired, this resembles the real thing! Learn to use slab building techniques to construct the house - there will be a choice of designs and templates to use. We’ll first cut out windows and doors before assembly then decorate with pottery sweets, if you wish, and finally use glaze onto the clay as icing. You can keep things simple or go for an elaborate and intricate design.
There will be some textured rollers which can be used to imprint a pattern onto the clay to act as a guide for applying the glaze colours. In this creative workshop you will get to use a type of glaze called ‘Designer Liner’ in small squeezy bottles – this is easier than painting or even icing!
Whether you're a seasoned potter or a complete beginner, this workshop is perfect for anyone who loves creativity and wants to have a fun and rewarding day.
Note: If you have done a previous pottery workshop, where you have constructed a house, you are welcome to bring along your own design and template. All pieces of your template should easily fit within an A3 piece of paper and the height of the house should be a maximum of 14cm including the chimney.
What to Expect:
Hands-on Experience: Learn slab building techniques to construct your gingerbread house.
Customizable Designs: Choose from a variety of templates or design your own.
Decorative Options: Add a touch of sweetness with edible decorations or use glaze to create intricate patterns.
Easy-to-Use Tools: Add dimension to your piece using textured rollers and work with "Designer Liner" for precise and easy glazing.
Enjoy a leisurely day creating a delightful gingerbread house with terracotta clay.
Please note lunch is not included and you will need to bring your own with you.
