Usage statistics for our Digital Exhibits site on Omeka have been collected since March 2016. Analytics works because we have a code snippet included in the footer of all of our Omeka pages. To see / edit the code snippet, go to http://exhibits.lib.pacificu.edu/admin > Appearance > Themes > Configure Theme > Footer Text > Click on the "HTML" icon. The code snippet can be re-generated from our Google Analytics account.
Directions for viewing Analytics:
Log into the Google Analytics page for our site
The Systems Librarian and/or Eva can grant access.
Select a time period to analyze using the box in the upper right-hand corner; Choose a time period dimension for the graph to display (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly.)
Suggested values for seeing trends over the course of a year:
Jan 1 [Current Year] - [Current Date] / Monthly
For a overall, site-wide count of # Users and # Pageviews:
Using the left-hand navigation, browse to: Behavior > Overview
Make sure that you are looking at a relevant time period (see #2 above)
Just under the "Overview" tab, select "Users" vs. "Pageviews"
At the top of the page, select "Export: CSV". The resulting file will have the Users or Pageviews broken down by month. For example:
To get a list of the most-used pages on the site and a count of their Pageviews:
Using the left-hand navigation, browse to: Behavior > Site Content > All Pages
Make sure that you are looking at a relevant time period (see #2 above)
To select the number of results you wish to display (i.e., getting the top 20, 50 or 100 most-visited pages), scroll to the bottom of the page and select: Show Rows: 100 [or whichever number you prefer]
To export a table of stats, at the top of the page, select "Export: CSV". The resulting file will list the most-used pages and the number of Pageviews each received within your time period.
To get a count of #Pageviews for a specific section of the site:
Using the left-hand navigation, browse to: Behavior > Site Content > All Pages
Make sure that you are looking at a relevant time period (see #2 above)
Select the section of site by using the Dimension and keyword search tools in the grey bar at the top of the numbers table. Suggested Combinations:
For exhibit pages only: Primary Dimension = Page; Search box keyword = exhibits
For a specific exhibit only (does not include /item pages): Primary Dimension = Page; Search box keyword = exhibits/show/exhibitname
For single items only (e.g. individual documents/images): Primary Dimension = Page; Search box keyword = items/show
Or do a more complex search of item number ranges for greater accuracy:
