Use archivist's position as subject liaison to humanities/social sciences as a platform for promoting the archives. When attending departmental meetings or in other communications, introduce the archives as a resources whenever relevant.
Actively promote classroom use of archives through talks with faculty. Longer term goal: create an online and/or print "menu" of classes in the archives to provide examples of classroom uses, targetting non-traditional users of archives (e.g. Social Work, Anthropology, etc.)
Continue to update the Archives web site and LibGuides, creating new pages as necessary
Target history department juniors and seniors as primary users of the archives. Ensure that all of them are introduced in person to the archives and learn to use its resources.
In her role as First Year Seminar instructor, the archivist should introduce archival materials whenever appropriate into freshmen classes. For example, sample research exercises may use archival primary sources as "jumping off" points for further research.
Solicit new collections from faculty and student groups when appropriate, such as the records of the Center for Gender Equity.
Maintain a close relationship with the President, the Provost for Academic Affairs and the Development department, keeping them apprised of major acquisitions and opportunities (these communications will go through the Library Director).
Ensure that news about major gifts and achievements is reported whenever appropriate to the Board of Trustees, Provosts' Council, and other administrative bodies (these communications will go through the Library Director).
Participate in Board of Trustees events whenever possible, for example, by creating displays representing the Archives for the Faculty Poster Session
The archivist will maintain regular contact with colleagues in Alumni Relations and MARCOM to assist them with their outreach activities and to coordinate donations
Mount regular exhibits in the library public area using original material from the archives. Conduct one or two larger exhibitions per year in conjunction with special events such as Black History Month.
Participate in public events related to the archives, such as Archives Crawl in Portland and Historic Preservation day in New Haven, to promote the Archives to the general public
Lead workshops/talks for the general public, such as the "Preserving Family Photographs" workshop at the Cedar Mill Public Library in Spring 2012
Seek out opportunities to promote the archives in the press and in Pacific's newsletters, blogs and electronic communications
