It's been a while since we have seen an update so we will wrap up this year's highlights.

2013 SJ24 North American Championship - The biggest highlight was during the San Juan 24 North American Championship held during DWI in July. DWI is a precursor to the Whidbey Island Race Week (WIRW). 21 boats on the start line for this year's event! We had some of the best racing around with the top three boats battling the whole way. When the dust settled, only one point separated the top three boats! Two of those three were our very own battled hardened Vikings, Buys and Rinella. Seattle's former champion, Return, edged out Magic Juan and Skamokawa by a point calculation, although our own Vikings sailed more consistently. Mark Brander, of Return, sailed a good fight. These Vikings will return next year even more determined to regain the top spot!

You can see the results by going to the San Juan 24 North American page.

2013 PITCH - Only two of the Vikings made the journey up to Bellingham to battle the Wookies on their turf. Viking boat Renaissance found herself in trouble when she t-boned the Canadian boat Slingshot on the beat up to the first mark of the day. She the proceeded to break her boom in half, thus retiring for the day. Magic Juan missed one race due to a tiller failure and retired after the second race. Both boats came back to edge out their competitors, but lost the coveted "Golden Head" to the Wookies. Make no mistake that the Vikings WILL regain the "throne"!
