The Introductory “Me Memo” Due: Friday, 12/4/2015 ==> RUBRIC <==
Assignment: Strictly following the memo formatting guidelines, write a memo (at least 1 ½ pages long) introducing yourself to Mr. Spagnolo.
Include the following topics:
Background:
Where did you grow up? Since many of you could answer “Prentice,” please refer to specific areas, neighborhoods, or sections of the places you were raised. What have you done in terms of school, extracurricular activities, jobs, and family life?
Interests:
What are you interested in? What do you like to do? What do you like to think about and talk about?
Achievements or Accomplishments:
What achievements have given you the greatest personal satisfaction? List at least three. Include things that gave YOU a sense of accomplishment and pride, whether or not they’re the sort of thing you’d list on a resume.
Goals:
What do you hope to accomplish this semester? Where would you like to be personally and professionally ten years from now?
Use the complete memo format with appropriate headings (see handout #1). Use a conversational writing style; be yourself. Assume you and I have had very little contact before this memo, which may be the case for some of you!
Check your draft to polish your style and edit for mechanical and grammatical correctness.
A quality memo will enable me to see you as an individual. Use specific details to make your memo vivid and interesting. You want to build goodwill and interest your reader. Make yourself stick in the reader’s mind!
These memos must be drafted in Google Docs. Attach this doc in Google Classroom even before you begin typing.
Tip: Make a copy of THIS SAMPLE ME MEMO, share it with Mr. Spagnolo, and replace his sample text with your own. This will help keep formatting exact!
