Highlights

Captain Sanders led the development of several global, national biosafety, biosecurity, and emergency management training programs. He spearheaded the development of a graduate degree program in biosafety during his term as the co-director of Laboratory Safety Graduate Program Development at the Emory University, Center for Public Health Preparedness.

He received several awards over the course of his career, including the Derek Dunn Memorial Scientist Officer of the Year on April 2007 and three outstanding service medals and commendation medals as part of the USPHS Commissioned Corps. He also received two commendation medals, an achievement medal, and a National Defense Service ribbon from the U.S. Army.
