Some roles and responsibilities of a Certified Safety Professional

A Certified Safety Professional can officially perform at least 50% of safety level duties. The responsibilities of a CSP cover evaluating risks, hazard control, and mapping out emergency response plans, among many others. Martin Sanders, a recent recipient of CSP certification, discusses some immediate roles and responsibilities of a Certified Safety Professional:

Checking all regulatory compliance. A CSP professional will ensure that the working environment is safe for all workers, and passes all regulatory standards. This task includes checking emergency exit plans, the conditions of the machinery that are used, and assessing risks present in the workforce.

Management of hazardous materials. According to Martin Sanders, a CSP professional sees to the storage of all hazardous materials in safe

compartments. The CSP professional also trains the employees in handling these materials for the prevention of workplace accidents, fires and explosions being the worst of them.

Management of safety programs. One of the most important tasks of a CSP professional is planning out safety programs for all employees, which include regular training, workshops, and strategy mapping to keep preventable risks under control.
