Though Martin Sanders has discussed before the causes of workplace accidents, he believes that a review is in order every now and then. After all, safety in the workplace should be one of the top priorities of a company. Below are three causes employees get hurt or injured at work. Miscommunication: Miscommunication can be as much a source of workplace conflicts as workplace accidents. Martin Sanders believes that the failure to alert people about certain workplace hazards falls on management. When there is a safety risk in the vicinity, it should be announced as soon as possible. Awareness is the key to prevention. Absence of training: Speaking of awareness, when people are trained, they become more aware of the inherent dangers and risks their work presents. While in many office settings, this may be rare. The risk increases in workplaces such as construction sites and warehouses where proper training should be a requirement to operate heavy and dangerous machinery.

Ignoring signs: Martin Sanders says that the simple act of ignoring a safety sign, which happens more often than people care to admit, can have catastrophic consequences. Safety and warning signs are in place for a reason, and that reason should never be ignored. Capt. Martin Sanders, Ph.D., has years of experience in the field of occupational safety and health. He recently obtained a certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. More articles on workplace safety here.
