CSP talk: Emphasizing workplace safety

Post date: Jun 17, 2019 4:37:15 PM

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Martin Sanders notes that workplace safety cannot be emphasized enough. As an advocate of public health and safety for nearly 20 years, Sanders has studied various scenarios in countless work environments and has worked with several agencies and organizations to combat safety threats and maintain the good health of employees everywhere.

Though Sanders notes that there are different types of work environments, the pillars and principles of safety cover them all. He also recognizes the effort put forth by fellow CSPs and other safety professionals in educating and empowering workers in safety. Sanders also explains that even though there are different threats in different industries, authorities have taken it upon themselves to do their research, come up with guidelines, and implement them for the safety of people working in these industries.

However, Martin Sanders Ph.D., CSP finds it quite alarming that a huge number of workplace injuries happen because of negligence or ignorance by either the employees or worse, management. He believes that every company should prioritize worker safety above everything else, for the simple reason that human lives matter.

So, how can companies show that they’re prioritizing safety? First, they can hold quarterly training on occupational health and safety. Then they can also appoint their own employees to act as safety officers in case the unexpected happens.

Being safe in the workplace is as simple as it is important, and it deserves emphasis.
