Project Description

It’s already more than 2 month that Sumatra is under a thick blanket of haze due to peat land fire.

Dozens of people already die from respiratory problem and you can feel the smoke in your throat and eyes become itchy.

Now the northern monsoon has started but the forest fires are not yet over in the southern part of Sumatra and the haze is still present and can come back at anytime.

I'm starting this project too late because apparently the haze is getting less and less right now.

Haze map situation with UV index and clouds coverage from 18/10/2015 t0 the 27/10/2015:

I would like to build a dust monitoring sensor based on the Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F sensor to calculate a dust density in mg/m3.

It must be an outdoor sensor with autonomous power supply from solar panel and rechargeable batteries and must have a telemetry system to display or record the data on another device.

To help me in this project, i'm using the work of Chris nafis at http://www.howmuchsnow.com/arduino/airquality/ and arduino dust sensor tutorial by http://arduinodev.woofex.net/2012/12/01/standalone-sharp-dust-sensor/
