Third Thursdays at Taco Mac!
January 15, 2026
February 19, 2026
6:30 - Whenever
Come share a meal with your fellow Magnolia SABR brethren! We'll chat about the Braves (and more pleasant topics), and Dave Washburn will offer up some more of his incomparable trivia.
Actually, in January, Dave will NOT be doing trivia. So if you are coming, bring a trivia question or two of your own!
We are currently meeting at:
Taco Mac in Sandy Springs
5600 Roswell Rd.
Ste. M-003 in the Prado
Free parking in the deck across from the front door!
If you are new to Third Thursday, we meet in the curtained room on the far left immediately after entering the establishment.
Magnolia Chapter SABR Day Celebration!
Saturday, January 17, 2016
1pm ~ 4pm
Dunwoody Public Library
5339 Chamblee-Tucker Rd.
Dunwoody GA 30338
The lineup:
1. A conversation with Babe Ruth’s great-grandson!
We start SABR Day by getting to know two new Magnolia members, Brent Stevens and Stu Dressler. Brent is the great-grandson of Babe Ruth and Stu is a long-time friend of the Ruth-Stevens family. They have recently collaborated with author Kelly Bennett to produce a new book, Out of the Mouth of Babe (Familius 2025), a collection of quotes by the Big Fella. We’ll learn how the book came into being and what it’s like to have a famous person in your family tree. The book will be offered for sale at SABR Day.
2. Stealing signs, years before the Astros
Chapter member Sean Corcoran has his own family story to tell. He is the grandson of Tommy Corcoran, a top major-league shortstop from 1890 to 1907. Sean’s grandfather uncovered one of baseball’s earliest sign-stealing scandals in September of 1900 in a game in Philadelphia. We’ll learn the details on how the Phillies were trying to steal the game that day.
3. Flashing the leather – a baseball glove collection
North Georgia resident Roby Barrow has been collecting baseball gloves for over thirty years. He will show-off some of his favorite items and explain how he became an avid collector. We are working to have an appraiser join us at SABR Day to provide some approximate values for the items. Appraiser Tony Cocchi will be joining us to provide approximate values for the items.
4. Baseball Family Feud
We’ll finish SABR Day by dividing into teams and play a game of Family Feud! Chapter member Dave Washburn will channel his best impression of Richard Dawson to host our version of that TV classic, but there will be no kissing of the contestants!
As an added attraction, Chapter members may bring a book or two (not more) to give away or to exchange. Any books left behind will be donated to charity.
Magnolia SABR at 2026 BravesFest!
Saturday, January 31, 2026

The Battery outside of Truist Park.
Our chapter has secured a table in the Battery during BravesFest. Our goal is to connect with Braves fans who are interested in baseball history but have never heard of SABR. If you plan on attending BravesFest and would like to volunteer an hour or two or your time to help man the table, please let Craig Brown know.
