Description: A Discussion - Facilitator's Post and Responses
Facilitator on April 8th:
Hello Tech Munch members! This page is for you to discuss and collaborate on new tech you'd like to try in the coming weeks. Here are some things you could share:
You can attach photos, insert a link to a website, or upload a doc to your google drive and share the link here.
If unsure of what to post, how about a discussion on the following topic: How does/could technology enable your students to think more deeply about a topic reaching higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy-?
Responses between April 23 and April 27 after an email was delivered to teachers with sign up for the Google Group on April 22, 2015.
CF - I like how there are apps associated with each of Bloom's levels.
CH - My students worked in teams to complete a set of problems through the Socrative App. They used 1 iPad per team. All of them solved the problem on a personal whiteboard, discussed, and agreed on an answer. Then, they put the answer in Socrative to see if they were correct. I was using the Space Race feature of Socrative projected at the front so the teams could compete with each other. One of the kids even said "this was fun". I don't always get to hear that in math class!
Facilitator - I'd like to add a ring to this Bloom's Taxonomy diagram with technology not specific to iPads for those teachers that do not have iPads. I'll be looking for ideas for each level. Feel free to send any ideas you have. I'll send it out as the project continues.
JJ - I am looking forward to joining IRead next year. I hope I don't miss the cut off. Please let me know, those of you who are already taking advantage of this opportunity, when and how to sign up. I think that once I have more technology available to my math class I can actually dive deeper into the ideas and apps that you all have shared in tech munch. I am so happy for this group and all the brilliant ideas and technologically motivated minds!
DF - Not only do I love the visual pedagogy technology wheel, I like the fact that there are some apps on the wheel I have not heard of and I am excited to investigate ad try. Thank you for this wonderful resource Larissa.
I noticed some can be internet/website based. We also can add getkahoot.com and kahoot.it like Christine sent out. They are web-based, but also have apps. : )
JJ - I totally agree! The wheel is amazing. I want to print it out and share it with the kids!
EM - Wow! This is so interesting! I'm going to take a bit more time to look this graphic over. I wonder about sharing it with students
Thanks CH Great classroom and technology management! I would love to try the same process/app with a ELA topic...
JJ - Larissa, Are you planning n giving the staff this at the beginning of next year? I think it would be awesome...
Reflection: Five out of ten of the members of the google group responded and posted to the original post. One teacher posted a picture and what was being done in the classroom related to technology. Others seemed happy with the post but didn't go farther than, "Thanks" and "I'll look it over".
Next steps will need to include a means to increase participation and interaction with the topic. As stated in the Cycle 2 Plan, a discussion of types of responses could benefit all and make the group more productive. Another important step will be to recruit more members.
