Background information on Burmese Refugees:
Many of the Refugees from Burma will refer to themselves according to their ethnic group. They sometimes prefer to be called 'Karen,' 'Shan,' 'Karenni,' 'Kachin,' 'Mon,' Arakanese,' Rohingyan,' 'Burmese Muslim,' etc. Burmese are the majority in Burma. Karen are the biggest minority, and there are several other groups with their own distinction.
